Treasury Department Announces Frank Bisignano as Chief Executive Officer of the IRS

What if you or I double-dipped by simultaneously accepting jobs at the SSA and the IRS to answer phones, mop floors, or analyze policy? … There is no doubt that Senate-confirmed Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano is highly talented. BUT the Trump Administration’s announcement that he will also serve as CEO of the IRS looks to be illegal if carried through – unless his total work hours don’t exceed 40 per week.

Did the Senate realize it was confirming a part-time Social Security commissioner? Bisignano might be able to keep his SSA job and also serve as an IRS consultant – but even that role could present conflicts of interest.
