Better late than never:

Mass starvation stalks Gaza as deaths from hunger rise – WaPost

“Israel has severely limited the amount of food entering Gaza, where society is on the brink of collapse.”

Better late than never. Today, July 25, the Washington Post’s hard copy featured a top-front page report on starvation deaths rising in Gaza. The once-venerated newspaper, however, is far behind news organizations around the world in documenting Gaza famine and its impact of human beings.  If the Post were still a cutting edge newspaper, its reporters already would be demanding answers from the government of Israel, which is deliberately killing civilians in Gaza though bombing, shooting, and starvation, and the US which finances Israel’s military and provides political cover for the Netanyahu government, why this slaughter continues.  It is sad to witness the Post’s decline as it packages what is often skillful reporting so as not to offend powerful forces in Washington, DC., including the Trump Administration and Israel lobby groups.  Israel with the help of the US government has transformed Gaza into a concentration camp systematically killing, maiming, and starving the people who live there. It leaves one to wonder what Post reporters would be asking government officials – and would its editors and managers allow and arrange for publication – if it were half the newspaper it once was.

As one of many examples of more timely and in-depth reporting, here’s what Al Jazeera featured a month ago:
