The Flashing Signals That I Just Saw in Israel – Thomas Friedman/NYT

“From the political center, the former prime minister Ehud Olmert wrote an essay in the newspaper Haaretz in which he pulled no punches against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his coalition. ‘The government of Israel is currently waging a war without purpose, without goals or clear planning and with no chances of success,’ Olmert argued. ‘What we are doing in Gaza now is a war of extermination: indiscriminate, limitless, cruel and criminal killing of civilians.’ His conclusion: ‘Yes, Israel is committing war crimes.’

“From the right, you have the likes of Amit Halevi, a member of Netanyahu’s own right-wing Likud party, who is staunchly pro-war but thinks its execution has been bungled…”

Following Israeli news sources can help Americans funding the genocide to develop a more complete understanding of what’s happening in Gaza. While Haaretz has been highly critical of Israel’s war conduct, other news sources have ignored or supported the systematic killing of Palestinian civilians and seizure of their land. The article below, for example, pushes for Israel take control of all of Gaza so that Israelis, including many with joint US citizenship, can settle there:

20 years since disengagement: How former Gush Katif residents are re-engaging with Gaza – Jewish News Syndicate

“…One of the first practical goals of these groups is to cancel the disengagement law that forbids Israeli civilians in Gaza. It has already been canceled for the four towns in northern Samaria that were also uprooted: Ganim, Kadim, Sa-Nur and Homesh. Today, these towns are gradually being resettled. The groups advocating for a Jewish return to Gaza have drawn maps and even plans for how it could be partitioned into recreational, agricultural and residential zones, including, of course, a coastal promenade, or ‘riviera.’…”

In contrast, here’s another Haaretz article including criticism of the Netanyahu government:
