Bernie Sanders Rips Democrats After Kamala Harris Loss: ‘No Great Surprise’ – Newsweek

“‘It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them,’ Sanders wrote. ‘First, it was the white working class, and now it is Latino and Black workers as well.’

“He chastised Democratic leadership for defending ‘the status quo’ while Americans “are angry and want change.”

How the Democrats Lost It – WSJ

“Pouring all their psychic energies into ‘Trump,’ Democrats took their eyes off the American people the past four years. What a high price they are paying for that now.”

Battle for control of House after Republicans take Senate, White House – CBS

Trump supporter Republican Congressman Byron Donalds: The president elect is committed to work for “working class men and women in the country who are sick and tired of being left behind.”

For the record, here are stats tracking inequality, poverty, and income that may indicate how well the working class makes out. As Trump and Vance are being elected, the US has a relatively high measure of income inequality: a 41.1 Gini co-efficient, according to the St. Louis Fed. A Gini of zero means everyone is earning the same amount. With a Gini of 100, one person takes in all the income. A country structured as a large plantation worked by slaves would have a high Gini co-efficient.

How unequal will the US be when we get to the next election? Will the working class get a larger of national income? Other numbers to watch:

According to the Census, the official US poverty rate is 11.1%. Median household income: $80,610. The US minimum wage has been $7.25 since 2009. How will Trump Administration and a Republican Congress change things? Who will be the winners and losers?

Dear Congress: Is that a hole in your pocket? … What’s in your wallet?
