When the election is over, President Biden, freed of political threats and party obligations, will have more than two months in office to demonstrate his character as a human being and leader. He will never run for office again. He will be able, until the next president takes office, to exert real pressure on the Israeli government to stop slaughtering civilians in Gaza and allow provision of adequate food and medical care. Biden could cut off or reduce the flow of military aid to Israel. Over the past year, the realities of US politics have tied Biden’s hands in standing up to Prime Minister Netanyahu who has publicly shown him, and the US, great disrespect. What Joe Biden the man does after the election will be revealing.
