“The rising aging population in India has led to an increased caregiving burden, and accordingly, the number of residential care facilities is also burgeoning. There is no regulatory framework or registration authority specifically for residential care homes in India.”

In India, demand for paid long term care (LTC) is growing as modern life undermines the family’s traditional role in caring for the elderly and the population ages.  India has yet to pass laws and develop regulations for LTC facilities.  Is there an opportunity for collaboration between nursing home and assisted living industry leaders and government officials in the US, which is fine tuning its many regulations, and their counterparts in India?  Staff training and development could be one area of mutual interest. Both countries face a shortage of LTC staff, which in the US are among the lowest paid workers.
