Israel minister calls for ‘ways more painful than death’ for Palestinians – Middle East Monitor
“In November, the Israeli minister called for dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza, wiping it off the face of the earth. Eliyahu belongs to the far-right extremist Otzma Yehudit party, led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. This party supports building settlements, regaining control of the Gaza Strip and extremist ideas. Eliyahu’s new statement comes amid Israeli calls to displace the residents of the Gaza Strip and resettle them in other countries.”
Is it wise for the international community to allow a government run by people who say what he says (nuke Gaza, inflict pain on Gaza) to have nuclear weapons? This statement of values raises other questions: If it’s OK for Israel to intimidate, displace, and nuke Palestinians (because it has the power to do so), would it be OK for one of Israel’s neighbors to nuke Israel? It is likely that they eventually will have the means to do so. The lack of value for non-Jewish human life that many Israeli cabinet members display does not bode well for their own country’s future. What goes around tends to come around.

“There’s a straightforward solution to Israel’s resistance to complying with international laws prohibiting forced population transfers. The U.S. can stop aiding Israel. Only withdrawal of aid and diplomatic support — or credible threats to do so — has a chance of pushing Israel to reverse its brutal treatment of millions of Palestinian civilians.”
